Is my laptop's GPU dying already?

It's not overheating, of course the GPU is compatible, and the last thing I would ever do is let Geek Squad touch my $1000+ laptop.

I'm thinking that the GPU might not have been properly soldered onto the motherboard, but I don't want to take it apart to check since it's under warranty still.

I never mentioned how it's also crashed on YouTube, but it has like two times now, always when on the nVidia GPU.

I don't think YouTube is THAT hardware intensive.

It shouldn't even be crashing on MMD, it didn't even get that warm (52c).

Hmm.. sounds like it could indeed be a solder issue. Send it in to Alienware before more damage is done to it, maybe?

Sounds like temperature damage or improper installation of some sort.


If it's always blue dots, I'd say overheating is making it screw up. Do something about it that won't void your warranty (hint hint).
