But I use the shotgun to harass people at a range my rockets are ineffective at. If my secondary shoots the same slow projectiles, I don't care how much it has.

I think you may have misunderstood. I was talking about the Bison, not the Mangler.

The Mangler's rocket/laser is slower then a normal rocket.
The bison's has about the same speed I think, but can be shot faster then the mangler.

It's not guaranteed it will hit twice although it does a lot.
