is buying keys worth it
Depends if you like stranges, which add a prefix to your weapon per a certain number of kills with it.
You also may possibly get paint or an unusual hat.

You have a 1 in 100 chance of obtaining an item that's worth much more than the key you used to open it

If you don't hit that mark though you'll end up with an item that's most likely worth less than the key, so if you're looking for Stranges I suggest just trading directly for the Strange

It's all up to you and how lucky you feel, it only took me around 10 keys I think to get my Unusual but other people have used many more with no luck

you'd have to spend $249 if you want to make sure you get an unusual :C

I watched somebody on a live stream use like 40 keys, only to get 1 unusual.

It doesn't work like that.

After doing some research on binomial distribution, I found an answer. If you opened all 43 crates, the chances of getting at least 1 unusual would be 0.2819, or 28.19%. There would be a 64.91% chance of unboxing no unusual hats at all.
