Can someone explain to me why all the 'pro' scouts use default Scattergun over Soda Popper? Same with Rocket Launcher over Black Box.

Soda Popper's only downside is clip size, and everyone cept heavies and soilders (sometimes) go down in two hits anyway. That conjoined with the fast reload times makes it look superior. D:

Because the default scatter is lovey and works well, trust me and try it yourself.

Because of my bad aiming, i stick with the Scattergun for more ammo and no mini-crit boost that just goes to waste most of the time

The Black Box despite having one less rocket than the standard Rocket Launcher, it's been pretty helpful to me

nice reasoning

see the only reason i can think of is the same as mld's, but for pros, well quite frankly you aren't a pro if you can't aim

Soda Popper is banned in most leagues, so that's the main reason no one uses it. But if it was unbanned, it's not nearly as consistent as the Scattergun, and doesn't contribute to pushes as much. As for the Black Box, it's really a lose-lose trade off. As an offensive soldier, you have less damage output and less mobility compared to the normal Rocket Launcher. As a defensive soldier, the healing effect is completely negated by the fact you'll have access to your medic's heals.

I've seen that argument and it's the most handicapped argument ever.

Shibby covers the Black Box and says every reason why I use it.

What. My post was not an argument, it was a collection of facts.

You cannot argue you lose out on those aspects. It is simply what happens. The only benefit of the Black Box is in a situation during a round where the opposing team sacrifices one player to pick your medic and does not have uber. In this scenario, the correct action for the opposing team is to spam your team. (They cannot push in right away because it's their 4 combat classes vs your 5, hence why that have to lower your health with spam first.) You will be weak without a medic and forced to give up ground so once they get uber, it's easier to push in, if they don't just push in before. The Black Box can technically be used to get you health back in the spam battle so you do not lose your ground as easily.

Why is Soda Popper banned?
The healing effect still helps even WITH the medic - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcZk1-kbJ6c - That explains why

Ah, Jerma covered. Thought it was Shibby, excuse me.

According to the Wiki, it's got the same exact stats as the Rocket Launcher, including crits and mini-crits, so you basically have a Rocket Launcher with one less rocket loaded but a +15 health bonus for each target you hit

Also, if the enemy team is smart, they could easily dispose of a Medic+Soldier, heck, i don't even think a Medic+Soldier with Black Box could take down the enemy forces, if your Medic has an Ubercharge ready, that's a different story, but then again, most classes can shred through a varying amount of the enemy forces with an Ubercharge

I don't understand what you mean by less mobility though
