You need to know how to deal with them.
If you have Modest Pile, grey goggles, and grey Fast Learner, and a Festive Scattergun, they think you know what you're doing. If you tell them to buff you over the mic, they usually listen, and if they're not dumb, they heal you if you're on fire or weak and calling medic near them. Plus I actually know what I'm doing and stay at the top of the board.

I usually try to get one more kill over my deaths and take out badly placed sentries, bonking heavy/medics, ect ect
but I guess it's true what they say, I need to look fancy with hats to be consitered good

I'm just saying that some people judge skill level by look of character. If, let's say a spy, with no hats or misc items takes down a sentry for me to go in, kill everything else and cap something, he's a good player in my eyes. If a spy with your dream loadout facestab'd the engy and didn't go for the sentry, I call him a piece of garbage spy and figure he just bought those items out of the Mann Co. Store.
