I don't know about you, but the people I go against tend to do their best to not be in situations where it's easy to hit them with a flare or axe after being ignited

My point is that almost everyone who uses the Backburner uses it because they don't give a stuff about airblast despite it being the Pyro's main utility and therefore see it as a direct upgrade from the Flamethrower because of the damage boost

No, I airblast a lot anyway and haven't found it to be an issue. Actually, my fifth S. Backburner kill was reflecting a crocket back at a soldier in the ctf_turbine vents.
