It was blurry in the background. I noticed it the second time, also thought it was a Wii because of the blur and similar look. I know what confused you, though: Wii accessories work on the Wii U. I'd say this is to not piss off the millions of people who bought that stuff and think it'll become useless.

The controller is pretty sick.  It's versatile in so many ways, from inventory/battle screens in RPGs to a minimap in an fps, it could be awesome.

im sure the wiiU will have a wii-mote accessory and still be cross platforming all thier wii stuff, and play the new motion control stuff.

but im glad nintendo isnt putting all faith into that motion stuff this time around.
