Author Topic: Space Elevator Superstructure complete!  (Read 13821 times)

lol its real, but it still would bend and snap tho
Actually it wouldn't, because the space station thingummy would be positioned so far from the Earth that it wouldn't come crashing down, and the tubes or whatever-they-are that'd connect the earth-side station with the space-side station would form a RIBBON instead of a stiffy-stiff pole thing. ;)

Grimsy is right there, it's going to be a really long ribbon made of carbon nanotube material. The elevator mechanism will consist of a laser powered engine that shoots up the ribbon with spacecraft on it. Current problems is that it would be a prim target for terrorist attacks.

actully you whould need a stelite to hold that in space cause it would still snap, trust me, when i get a job, its arcutecture.

The satelite would have to be in perfect synchronis orbit.

omg 10/10. nice build!

What is up with you cigarettes and realism

"K!"

If you didn't care so much about the realism of it I would like the build more.
The game is about loving blocks, it isn't supposed to be realistic.

The game is about pandaing blocks, it isn't supposed to be realistic.
i ain't complaining on how crapy it is because it will snap, im talking to muffin because he claims it will work. now idc if a huge ass thing is held by a 1x1, idc but i was talking to muffin.

Not you, Facechild and Grimsy and Muffin.

we were all talking about the same topic: that in real life it would snap.

Yup, if it were real, it would snap pretty much like a twig since it's huge and made out of weakly interconnected blocks.

I build it in blockland's relatively gravity defying aspects so gravitational pull and force on the structure weren't accounted for.

Don't start internet fights here, however debating and stuff like that are accepted and welcome.

WOW! Nice build. I'm a bit of a space geek myself so it's something to think about!

i down loaded the save and am editing it im ading 2 agri units and added a lake to the bio dome

WOW, BEST I'VE EVER SEEN 11/10!!

EDIT: The core top of the elevator could be a space station, orbiting the earth as a satillitte, all it would need is its own power core and some airlocks, then it would be able to transmit signals to the station on the ground...
