I found a hacker on Mario Kart DS!

I was playing Mario Kart DS on my blue DSi, then I decided to go on a WFC race. Average start, Wait for players, Pick your character, pick your car, and vote a course. I won the course poll (SNES Mario Circuit 1) I got hit by a lightning bolt, until I noticed something: There was a hacker in this game! Me, and the other players got hit by the bolt. So they left. I decided to play a trick on the hacker. Once the 2nd game began, I ditched him.

There have been "hackers" on Mario Kart DS, online, for many years now.
You either play with friends-only, or expect it.

Only "hackers" I have seen are speed cheats. Also using a lightning bolt isn't hacking.
