Author Topic: I'm no longer confused and quite content: The story of a man and his laptop  (Read 4701 times)

Just phone up your father saying
hey dad, i was wondering if you could give back my laptop. the one you've had for years that was really mine?

and if he sells it

you bastard.

then after that say

kthnx love you dad then hang up.
he will be utterly confused so run into his house and ninja kick him in the face and use a WEPON and fire at zambiegoasts
or talk to him in person.

>being nice to my father

so you just read the op and skipped everything el-

>the one you've had for years

actually it looks like you barely read the op

Tom

I don't think there's much law can do if he took it while you were still 17.

Probably all the pony research you had.

His mom bought it and if she wants it back she can at least force him to give it back by law. It would theoretically be her responsibility since he paid her to get it with her credit card.

probably my foot in your ass

this was my initial thought about the laws involved, before I questioned whether I legally bought it from her or not

technically the laptop was property of the mother because it was purchased on her credit card. therefore the theft was not from him but his mother, who is well above 17. since there was no "legal" transaction the sale was confidential, so regulith can still claim it was his mother's.

anyway, good luck, if he tries to hurt you just punch him in the face or kick his shin, shins have a nerve that makes you clench up when it's struck.

lol you're pathetic
lol, you're a dumbass.

Yeah you have a point, in a way you did buy it from her although she had yet to have it in her possession. Think of it like ordering from a store online so they have to ship it to you from their warehouse, and your mom is like the UPS guy or mailman.

the thing is there is no paperwork proving that the computer was ever purchased from his mom, that means if he has to get the legal system involved then his father can't use the "i took it when he was 17, i'm his father" bullstuff because he has no way of proving that the computer wasn't still the mother's property. even if it was he was in custody of his mother, therego anything that was his was also hers. that means if an adult steals something from a minor the item that was stolen WAS the minor's but it was also the parent's, so it was still hers either way.

Tom

It wouldn't even be worth it to take to court. It's not like you walk in and get your computer back the same day, court is a log, expensive, and stressful process.

there's also the fact that I really don't want to take legal action

y'know

Oh but legal action is so much fun!
Because if you lose you're in deep stuff!

There's really not much you can do, or at least not much anyone here can tell you.

Tom

Have you talked to your mom about this? Is she willing to help you get it back?
