EDIT: This topic started to stuffpost kinda fast.

Well you only have a few options.

1. Go to his house and ask for it back nicely. If he says no, you can either react nicely and ask to have a conversation with him or react violently and aggressively. (Or you could do this over the phone of course.)

2. Go to his house and ask for it back aggressively.

3. Go to his house but with your mother, ask her to help you through it.

4.  Call the police (but I don't think you want to do that).

5. And lastly, there is of course the option to leave it and get a new computer later.

Personally, I would suggest 1 with the nice attitude. Good luck though, I feel for you man. :c

Call him first imo then go there (wether or not he agrees to give it back)

If you bought it, he can't legaly take it without permission. There's something called "stealing" that I suspect might be involved.

Sent him an email, didn't want to call him up because I knew I'd just go batstuff and likely hurt my chances of getting it back.

And now I play the waiting game.

Alright well, in case anyone's interested in this bit of drama I've got an update on the situation.

Instead of emailing me back, my father emailed my mom. Apparently he said something about "how did he get on the internet" (neither of them know my 3DS has internet and my father doesn't know I can weasel my way onto our stuffty desktop) and "who does he think he is telling me what to do". My mom told me not to email him anymore. I suppose I'll call him up and give him a piece of my mind. I'm seriously pissed and have no regard for anything anymore.

do it

i mean, what super duper reason does he have to keep your laptop

you're also 18 that stuffs yours now, forever.

be a massive friend and dig his filthy talons further into my personal life and property.

see how much I despise this man?

You seriously need to just take back the laptop, take back your personal life. Just head over to his place, take the laptop back and get out of there, never talk to him again.

It's your property, it's not possible for you to get into trouble for taking back something you rightfully own.

Thanks, the pep talks are actually giving me confidence to stand up to him. I'm not sure if I should call and assert the forget out of him or just do it face-to-face. If I go over there then I'll be closer to getting the laptop and have the element of surprise (assuming my mom doesn't call him while I'm on my way, which I have a feeling she might), but then I have to deal with him in person. I'm taller than him but the front porch is low and he's easily stronger than me. :l

I also don't know if I can borrow my mom's car, when she found out I told my father I'd come pick up the laptop she asked how I planned to get there, implying she wouldn't have let me borrow the car for that
