I hate the Halo series. I don't hate it cause it is popular, I hate it cause it helped push us into the mainstream gaming rut we are in.

Stocking why are you praising Halo out of your ass when you said you've played <10 hours of it?

i hear a lot about duke loading times. is this just consoles?
its like instant on pc, even cods have a bar, duke plays pretty fast for me.

It's only like 10 seconds, it's not as bad as some have claim.

It's not really the fault of the franchise that other developers felt the need to copy every thing it did. But I see what you're saying.

The FPS market is stuck in a loving rut right now, CoD 4 added an element of realism (which most gamers apparently adore) while incorporating everything from Halo and now almost every FPS is copying CoD 4.

I played the holy bajeezus of out Halo: CE and Halo 2. I swear to god at the time those games were loving amazing.

Halo 3 was kind of a disappointment, Halo ODST had a really good single player unlike the previous Halo games.

Halo wasn't one of the first to start the first person shooting genre.

I like Duke Nukem Forever it's a bit of old school and some modern gaming elements. It's better than what they did with Doom 3, that stuff was horrible.

It didn't invent the RTS genre no, but it revolutionized the genre.

So you like it because of its nostalgia factor? Nothing about the game is old school in the good way.

Now you're putting words in my posts. I like the whole game in general and I find it better than Halo, deal with it.

Halo made the first person genre stale. Master Chief has absolutely no personality.

Doesn't really look like I'm the one that's got to deal with it.

Stocking seems dumber than normal today.

Only a fool will believe reviewers due to a game being over hyped.

once I recall a reviewer gave a bad score on some legend of zelda game or something and then he got fired and they removed the review. Highly anticipated/over rated game franchises tend to get high reviews. Why else would Call of Duty ever get any awards, it's a piece of stuff but no one cares because of it being over rated.

I saw this reference on TBG.

>Implying DNF isn't super-loving-hyped.

Call of Duty 4 invented the modern FPS archetype that all FPS games of the past few years are straight-up ripping off, the only reason I don't care for the franchise anymore is because CoD 4, MW2, and Black Ops are all basically the same game with all but the most former being half-assed attempts to cash-in on its skyrocketing popularity. Most critics, even the hipster-stuff ones agree that the original Call of Duty 4 was simply golden. The rest of the games are just as good in the multiplayer department, but not worth another $60 investment for the same game.
CoD 4 also borrowed a ton of elements from the Halo franchise.  :cookieMonster:

15 years of Duke Nukem anticipation alienated a lot of fans. Most people don't even know who Duke Nukem is. The game is still dated, it would have done better if it came out in 2003.

I'm going to ignore stocking. He has sand in his magina.

You're not just backing out of the argument (one that you haven't even made a decent attempt at arguing with any of the arguments against you), you're declaring victory like some kind of moronic asswipe. You can't defend your piece-of-stuff game that you're in love with and all you're capable of is dismissing everything you disagree with in spite of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, and you can't support your half-assed criticisms on a far superior franchise. So, in short:

LOL like realism?
