Author Topic: Is it possible we are truly alone in this universe?  (Read 3791 times)

Though I will not try to actively shoot down your opinion, I feel it is truly impossible, the universe is just too big and we know so little about it it would be really, really ignorant to think we are totally alone.
I never said that was my opinion, the title asked me if it was possible and I said yes.

My opinion is that the chance is very slim that we are alone.

-snip I have a phobia of large numbers-
chance we are alone. (Number of planets)

it's a 1 in 10,000,000,000,000,000[1] chance
Oh, okay. My bad.

That's of course if there is not space whales or something that can live in space.

(I hope there is and at the same time I hope there isn't)

I believe that aliens don't have to have the technology that we have. I believe that they are either at out current technology level or that they are more simple, such as stones and sticks.

May I ask why you think that?

Our race has lasted for Thousands of years, yet even today, through all that time we have only placed a man on the moon.

Isn't it possible they got a head start?

Isn't it possible they got a head start?
We will never know

It is but there are lots and lots of other planets.

Also I just got a little sad knowing I won't ever see the height of the human race.

Funny how we could sit here saying "What if..."
and we would never know because we won't be alive

"Science isn't about why, its about why not!"
I actually believe this. :o

it's a 1 in 10,000,000,000,000,000
Say 1 x 1016
Make smaller numbers.

looked at the title and thought

Anything can happen in our lifetimes. I'd just say don't hope either way because what we know exists on earth is already enough justification for the existance of the entire universe. Also don't 'wait' on anything, because we know nothing in the grand scheme of things. Or lack thereof.
