I just got pretty badly owned last game though. I was beating up the enemy Veigar easily, but late game, he gained momentum that I couldn't match. The enemy team won easily.
I watched his build though. He built 3 doran's rings before developing his late game set.
Doran's stacking is something people do when they aren't doing very well.
It's got some of the best stats for it's price, with the only downfall being that it doesn't build into anything, and it's taking up a slot. So if some people get sent back a lot, they'll buy one of those. I prefer not to do that because I consider it a waste of potential gold. They don't sell at the same % of other items, last time I checked. I'd rather pick up cloth armor, null-magic mantle, potions, and/or wards.
You really have to watch out for doran's stacking on the enemy team. It is powerful and can turn the battle around. It's not guaranteed though. If you continue to shut him down (playing smart rather than thinking "i'm owning him time to rush out like an idiot"), then he's wasted quite a number of gold. Veigar also scales off something other than gold or items. He gains flat permanent and limitless AP from finishing minions off with his Q. Try to harass him to stop his farm. Keep the lane warded (better than doran stacking), call for your jungle to help out when he's overextending. Also, depending on the champion, grab a null-magic mantle or a negatron cloak, seeing how they do build into some nice utility AP items.
Bah, can't believe a riven insisted on midding against ryze. Not only do I think she is a stuffty champion, but most people who I've seen play her is bad. Maybe it's just because she's free this week.
I've done well with Riven, but I also play her different than everyone else. (either like they do every other melee AD (aka attack speed), or like an off-tank, she's actually AD caster)
Then again, it was a mistake for me to get a rageblade on morde, he had enough dps.
Rageblade on morde doesn't make much sense. He doesn't hybrid autoattack and it'll be difficult to spam his skills 24/7. Champions like Teemo and Nidalee benefit better from it.
