Author Topic: Do people actually think in pictures?  (Read 1411 times)

I remember a topic a while back discussing how deaf people think. In this topic, someone brought up how people think in pictures. That came as sort of a shock for me.

I never have thought in pictures. Sure, I can think of pictures, but that is not my main form of thought. Apparently, this is abnormal. In hindsight, I'm wondering if it was just some prank pulled on me.

In any case, I would like to know, and am looking for responses. Any feedback would be nice. Sorry for the weirdly worded topic.

How do you think, then?

Cause I always think in images or videos.

I only think of my pose. Do I look good, or like an idiot?
I'm not very photogenic so I tend to fail.

I always think in images or videos.
Or just mindless words in my head.

Another point is that some people (me included) See all memories and thoughts in third person instead of first.

I can think of an image, or a moving image (What you call "videos",) but I can also think in text or words.

I think when it is said that people 'think in pictures' I would assume that would include actual learning and gathering information such as reading. When you read do you imagine what's happening in pictures, or do you just see the text and memorize/absorb it?

I see the text and I memorize it. I can imagine what is happening, but it's not an automatic thing.

This.

I'm bumping this up. Perhaps it wasn't a good idea to make a topic so late at night.

this is me. I have to try to see things in first person.

I think with photos/videos. Not always a good thing though.

I think in 3D models that move and do whatever I am thinking. When they talk, a little speech bubble comes up, and I can hear it. and if I am not thinking of an act, their is just a 3D face that is looking at me, and he is talking what i am thinking. Creepy. I don't like to think D':

When I read I envision what is going on in the book. But, when I am just thinking I rarely think with pictures/videos and it is just my "voice".

I think in .avi, .mp4, and .png formats
