ITS OUT YES YES YES YES YES YES!

Be right back, need new pants. Gonna be REALLY busy tonight fighting the new career system.

CONTRACTS

SATELLITES HAVE A REASON NOW

I've never actually played career mode but I have a feeling this update has forgeted up entire save files with mods so now would be a good time to start
From what I read on the KSP forums it shouldn't cause much of an issue with sandbox saves, since nothing has really changed there, bar the few added parts.

But modded career saves might not work right. At least, that's what I got.

And I'm updating now and will be playing tomorrow.
See if these starter contracts help me get into the swing some more.
I'm doing better now and have gotten a number of ships into orbit (although not all of them with a means of escaping said orbit), and I've sent a couple of ships close to the Mun.
But I've not yet managed to get in to orbit the Mun (lack of fuel in most cases), and I'll go back to the tutorials for how to do that better.

Also need to work out how to get two ships to meet up. Been trying to sync up the orbits of different ships with maneuvres, but it's not working out too well.
And I've got a few ships in orbit with no fuel, a bunch of science points on them, and no comms device, because I was really smart when I decided to send them up there.

Modded career works perfectly fine, except that it can give you way too difficult contracts ocasionally.

Also when I reach endgame I'm just going to launch like 12 self-building superstations with 20 pods each for rescuing missions.

wait i saw KSP was updating but i didn't know what it was this sounds amazing where can i find out how amazing it is

babby's first contract

i thought it said "first contact" so we'd be doing something with aliens

I think that's the pun they're going for.

I just updated my ksp not long ago, ugh now I have to re download my addons and whatnot

this is kinda embarrassing but i've never managed to land on anything other than kerbin and it's 2 moons
i've managed to orbit eve but i crashed onto the surface when i tried to land

a single Parachute will land you pmuch anywhere on eve safely.
Sooper dense atmosphere

Well, this is awkward. Got a fairly low level contract to test out the LV-T45 Liquid Fuel Engine in flight over Kerbin

The criteria are;
Kerbin
Flight
Alt: 8900m to 12000m
Spd: 380.0m/s to 580.0m/s

In flight, I meet all 4 of those criteria (the little Contracts tab says so), but it doesn't reward me. The collect contract tab doesn't change, and I don't get to claim the reward.
I then fall out of range and under speed. I just about manage to speed up and get back up to the correct altitude and all the criteria have the little tick again. Contract still not rewarded.

And I am most definitely using the correct engine and at that moment in time.

I also swear that a lot of my really basic rockets are unbelievably shakey in flight, and they easily topple over and out of control mid-air. But they're really slim rockets with very little on the sides, all evenly placed. Prior to the update identical rockets could go straight up without swaying out at all.

For a test contract to be completed, you have to activate the engine via the staging, so by pressing the spacebar, when all criteria are met. You can still however use the engine before reaching the required altitude, by right-clicking the engine and pressing activate engine, and then once the criteria are met, shut it down again via the right-click menu and activate it with the spacebar this time.

For the stable rockets, I really have no idea. haven't suffered from it myself, though maybe it has to do with lack of SAS and thrust vectoring on the basic tier 1 engines?
