The rocket was light enough to get off the ground, yet too heavy to get very far. It sort of hovered along the ground until one of my liquid-fuel engines hit the ground and disconnected, causing it to flip onto its side and make explosions.

i just do this:

capsule
3 SAS things
4 of those orange fuel tanks in one of the mods
then that liquid fuel cluster in one of those mods
it gets me into spaaaaaace

I got very high with:
A capsule
A SAS module
Default fuel tank
Default liquid rocket
Detacher
SAS module
The cone thing that goes from small to big on the bottom
3 Orange fuel tanks from that mod
The big liquid fuel thing
???
Profit!
You could leave earth forever with this thing, man. Just get to about 600,000 M, tip to about 30 degrees, and go full throttle (Or at least as much as you can without overheating)

Every time I go back into the shop, the stages get all forgeted up. I want three solid-fuel engines running AT THE SAME TIME as three liquid-fuel engines. My engineers are morons! Ach!
Getting the Rotavator I off the ground would be impossible with three solid-fuel engines alone; the three liquid-fuel engines that are ON THE SAME LEVEL OF THE DAMN ROCKET as the solid-fuels need to run WITH the solid-fuels so that the rocket can get off the damn ground.
I suppose it doesn't even matter anyway, the damn thing just does a nosedive twenty seconds into every launch. Piece of crap.
