My main point is not necessarily that we need to make everyone equal. I was trying to say that this wasn't really an opt out/opt in mod - if you are in a deathmatch server and someone is using this, you are immediately at a disadvantage (and this is simply not debatable) if you are not using this, and thus people are forced to get this in order to compete - even if they don't necessarily want it!
As far as your argument for equalizing aimbots - well that's just silly. First off, aimbots in blockland are horrible. I've used one myself, and trust me - you're much better off just doing the aiming yourself. Secondly, talk about fighting fire with fire! Just because someone designed an add-on that abuses clientside information doesn't mean we should all jump on the wagon and make more!
As an example, I used to run a custom gamemode called Murder Mystery. It was very popular, and I would usually be forced to limit the server to about 20 players in order to avoid chaos. Long story short, the gamemode relied very heavily on being sneaky and attacking by surprise. Anyone who always knew where someone else was - well, it would just be ridiculously unfair. Or take that gamemode that one of the clans recently made (colleagues? craftsmen?). It consisted of an entire team whose goal was to remain semi-invisible and avoid detection. This mod completely and utterly destroys that game.
Hell, one doesn't need to limit themselves to blockland to see how ridiculous a mod like this would be. Take a look at ANY popular FPS these days. Not a single one reveals the position of all players - why do you think that is?
My point is, your primary argument for the creation of this seems to be "it can counter aimbots". Is this really worth the cost to the game?
You know that story about the government you talked about? The way I see it, you're the government, imposing this "great equalizer" on us - and in the end, as you put it best: "it sucks for everyone".
