don't hate me for having a differentiated opinion here or whatever
but everything in the op sounds like feces smeared on a dead baby, and then converted into soundwaves and forced into my ears
it's not even music
Well, there's a genre that is known of its special beats and mondays rapping about hoes and weed and other drugs, umad bro?

I say lyrics should have value of some kind, but you don't necessarily have to understand them. Half the time I don't even listen to lyrics, because the technicality of the music is enough to make listening a good time.

I love Poison the Well. I have 3 albums of theirs, not sure how many they have though...good stuff.

And on the topic of lyrics:

Not necessarily. Enjoy the song, and if you really care (most of the time you won't) you can look up the lyrics, read it like poetry or something, or you can listen to the song again having the lyrics in mind.

I stand by my statement.

Progressive, melodic, and sub-sub genres of the like have spoiled me rotten and now I get bored of listening to a lot of other bands :(

Be'lakor - Outlive the Hand
Amogh Symphony - Cyborg Activation (has the power to shorten your attention span exponentially)
Opeth - all of them
Daylight Dies - All We Had

I'm surprised CapT didn't come into this thread. He has enough metal to continuously play songs for an entire year (I'm not even sure if that's an exaggeration anymore).

is alice cooper metal?
i kinda like him.

I also really prefer stuff which changes from fast to slow tempo and vice versa a lot, heavy breakdowns with a lot of slow prior suspense, catchy riffs, soft and heavy altering vocals, meaningful lyrics, deep distorted chords, and even rap.

Which explains why I am a Nu Metal and Metalcore cigar.
