I'm personally not against using dupes/glitches/cheats/trainers when playing single player games. It's your experience, play how you want. It's when it comes to multiplayer that it ruins the fun for other people. I consider Dead Island to be an exception to that since it's strictly co-op.

Duplicating Items 101

• First you need a weapon that you can throw and pick back up.  You might be able to do it with something like a Molotov but it wouldn't duplicate, you would just keep one while throwing one.
• Second you need to aim like you are going to throw it
• Third you press the throw button and press the drop button, at the same time. On PC that is backspace.
