LIKE I SAID, that calculator interprets it as the (9+3) NOT in the denominator. So it equals 288. The text in the OP is not clear.

yes it is. if it were included in the denominator, it would be in additional brackets. if you argue brackets are only to help calculators, here is your example of why you are wrong.

the number is the numerator, while the something is the denominator

Brackets help anywhere text is typed, so yes, online too. Many people begin to write brackets by hand, too, just out of habit/clarity for use with a calculator.
