The terrain is limited to a 256x256 repeating height field. The default terrain square size is 8, yielding a 2048x2048 unit world. Eliminating the terrain repeat requires c++ changes but they are fairly easy and the game runs significantly faster with only one terrain repeat, so I might look into it.
Does anyone know if it is possible to change the terrain scale size? I'm looking through a map file right now to see if its obvious.
I'd like to create a map with a large scale that repeats less often.
EDIT: I guess I should have looked before I asked. No problem though, I can explain it here, and then people will know how to do it in the future.
Press F3 to open the World Editor Inspector. Select the terrain block. Head to the category labeled Misc. Change the square size to a bigger number. Hit apply.
Don't use a non-even number. When I tried using an odd one, it crashed my game.
The smallest number you can use is 2. I wouldn't recommend it though, since the map repeats very often, and the player can easily get stuck in the tiny terrain features you can make.
I also wouldn't go any bigger the 32. Its ridiculously big, and the terrain detail texture starts to tile annoyingly. Plus, your mountains and valleys will start to look like triangles.
