Author Topic: Dwarf Fortress Megathread! - Necro'd enough to count as a vampire  (Read 134626 times)

Those stories actually make me want to go through the trouble of learning how to play that game.

Trust me, it's worth it. This is the kind of game that makes you want to spend hours building a nice fortress just to tear it down because it's that much fun to.

EDIT: My little brother had a dwarf make a slice of bread with bread spikes

what the forget?!

Why are people always too lazy to search for things like this?
because I didn't even know they exist, smartass.

I really don't like playing DF without a texture pack, myself :l

The ASCII may be unique, but unique =/= good

Because it literally took me four hours to find one decent one. I bookmarked that one just because it's so good.
Thats the most popular texture pack lol how did it take you so long to find it :P
My favorite texture pack too btw <3

When I did a google search I ended up with millions of topics on countless forums asking where they get texture packs for DF, or stupid stuffty texture packs for minecraft 'inspired' by DF

I remember the days of being addicted to adventure mode. Countless sleepless nights, many sets of armor worn at the same time and the gallons of blood bled..

Good times.

Ive always easily understood fortress mode

Never understood adventure mode

Think nethack without all the pointless and confusing stuff

It's always fun to look at your characters description after like 80 fights because it describes all of the scars he has and such.

You can do that??

I gotta go look at my character!

I got the basics down relatively fast but I've played it for like 10 hours straight without anything bad happening that I can see and no attacks or anything they just run around doing stuff so I'm not sure how you guys have all these crazy experiences.

You have to dig really deep. Apparently it's in the coding somewhere that dwarves just flip out when you dig deep enough.

Also it helps to have the dwarves living in great living conditions. They tend to go crazy if they have no issues in life. For some reason they love to have problems.

Wait wait wait, when did they start committing Self Delete?

I have never had a dwarf commit Self Delete and I put them through hell (Not literary) and back.
