Author Topic: Dwarf Fortress Megathread! - Necro'd enough to count as a vampire  (Read 138473 times)

I've been playing it for a long time, the game is not hard to learn at all. Anyone who says it is is likely to be stupid in one way or another. Dwarf Fortress is very detailed, and it astounds me. A billion symbols for a billion different things. There are mechanical things you can build, rooms, towns, etc. It's waaay more than just ASCII gameplay, there's serious strategy to it. I wish there was a peaceful mode (loel) because those damn goblins WILL get you sooner or later. Of my fifty or so dwarves living in my fort during the Goblin Siege of 2010, one was locked in his room for months waiting for the Miasma and goblins to leave the base. He went crazy and broke down the door, then destroying the entire goblin army. He died because of the Miasma his dead friends were excreting lol.

Wait wait wait, when did they start committing Self Delete?
There mood has to be as low as it can go.

This is one of those games where you start playing at like 9PM and then you look at the clock and its 5 in the morning. Then you look back at your game and realize youve accomplished nothing :X

Which one of the SDL ones, there's eight.

Windows if you have windows, mac if you have mac, linux if you have linux... the rest are just mirrors

That sounds kinky. I'll put myself through the trouble of learning the intricacies of this game just so I can recount tales like this.

But it sho is fun.

Trust me, it is ten times more fun playing it than reading about it.

Wait wait wait, when did they start committing Self Delete?

I have never had a dwarf commit Self Delete and I put them through hell (Not literary) and back.

It is triggered by death of something they love (children, lovers, pets, friends) or lack of beer

This is really fun. I thought much of this game before for some reason.

I like watching them build stuff :D

Downloaded.
Let's navigate the 90° learning curve.

Can someone help me install a texture set?
