Author Topic: Dwarf Fortress Megathread! - Necro'd enough to count as a vampire  (Read 135137 times)

The developers could've worked harder on graphics instead of making letters and symbols, guaranteed. Tilesets aren't default, those are made by the community, and they are still ugly.
I can tell just by reading all your posts in this topic that you've never gotten deeper then sitting there, and staring at the wagon. The game goes way deeper than that.

The game is difficult to master, I understand. Some people just can't stand the games where you have to think. I know, people making you think in a video game! The horror!
The developers didn't bother with better graphics because anyone who couldn't stand them probably wouldn't have enough intelligence to understand the game anyways. And because its s till in development.

Games that you need to think in are always the best games.

How old are you? You guys don't like peoples inputs on the game unless they are complimenting the game, huh.

I learned how to play with this guide http://afteractionreporter.com/2009/02/09/the-complete-and-utter-newby-tutorial-for-dwarf-fortress-part-1-wtf/

Everytime I learned something new, I didn't feel anything. After I knew how to play, I just sat there, killing goblins that would steal from me. It's not that entertaining tbh. Even if I have a good imagination, imagining goblins corpes burning away in the lava, blue blood drizzled all over my dwarves' beards, that's not really my kind of thing. Whatever though, you guys can continue talking about how awesome the game is.

okay so according to you a game can have super stuffty coding just so long as it has l33t graphic?

No the game would have more appeal if it had better graphics. Where did I say the game requires stuffty coding?

If you gave a game with the complexity of Dwarf Fortress graphics of any decent degree you would give the computers the US uses for defense a heart attack.

I never said you said that.

I never said you said that.

You said 'according to you'.

Dwarf fortress could run perfectly with with good graphics on my computer.

Let's see, 100 dwarves on a standard embark. Rendering all those spaces, creatures, dwarves, plants, etc. etc. would be incredibly taxing on even the best of computers.

They are already rendering at thousands of frames a second with the graphics now, what makes you think it would take down NASA computers if it got better graphics lol. Dude, sound effects would also be awesome.

Its another way to say apparently.

Since you're a DF "veteran" why didn't you use tile sets?
