Author Topic: Mouse & Keyboard or Controller?  (Read 1770 times)

I've been playing Halo: Reach and ODST lately and I'm quite frustrated with my lack of skills with an Controller.
In my opinion shooters are just not made for Controllers. I want freedom while I aim.

So. I've been browsing around and checking some other opinions and there's actually always the same bullstuff I've been reading.
It's either that shooters don't make fun with controllers or that controllers require more skill then keyboard & mouse.
Then there's this biased comments like that everyone can play with a mouse and a keyboard and, like just said, it requires more skills for someone to handle a controller properly.

I mean, seriously, what role does someones skills play in here?
There's two things. I mean, sure, it's easier to aim with a mouse but what if your enemy uses a mouse too. There's a difference between mouse vs mouse, controller vs controller and mouse vs controller.
But then again, most shooter games on the consoles have an auto-aim option that helps you. It's not a big help but damn, it sure gives me a lot of headshots. And don't come with the "YOU CAN DEACTIVATE THAT HERP DERP" bullstuff because I bet that 90% of all players didn't deactivate that option anyways.

You really can't compare the skills between a PC and a Console cigarette. Those are two different worlds.

I like the feel of a controller in my hands personally.
Well, not PS3 controllers, nothing against PS3 (seriously I still like PS3) but xbox controllers just fit nicely in your hands but with PS3 it hurts. :c

Keyboard and mouse are good, I guess it's just what mood I'm in.

EDIT: also it's a controller not an controller :cookieMonster:

What does this have to do with anything other than the wii remotes?

Aiming
How hard you have to hold it
...
You should get where hes coming from

oic
silly me

depends on the game
for everything but batman AA, a keyboard+mouse works

I never saw someone say "it takes more skill with a mouse and keyboard".  All I see is "it's more accurate".

Edit: derp I was tired

i hate controller gaming for pretty much anything but racing. racing, i guess i can deal with it, but any fps i have trouble with because of the sensitivity on the controllers. you always have those times where you need it to go slower because you're like, trying to pick someone off who's farther away but then you have those times where it's like oh stuff oh stuff there's someone behind me and you can't turn around fast enough.

so yeah, i guess i'm not into consoles that much.

For FPS mouse and keyboard since you can get really acurate if you know your mouse well. Console games have snap-to stuff where it follows the enemy for awhile because controllers suck stuff for aiming.

It's definitely NOT more accurate lol!

Oh look it's this topic again.

It all depends on how the game is played.

Shooters and lots of other kinds of games: keyboard/mouse
Dynasty warriors games: controller

Simple as that.

Nintendo 64 controller is best for shooters

keyboard for every game except fighters

Mouse + Keyboard for everything except racing and fighting
