Author Topic: Marijuana: Legalize it? (Why Marijuana is Illegal)  (Read 7983 times)

marijuana probably will become legal, only with a large tax though, like cigarettes. as we all know, lowering spending and increasing our federal revenue is the only way we can get out of debt, legalizing certain drugs with a high tax would be the easiest way to increase revenue by a forgetton.

I support legalizing it for medical purposes. But just to get high, there are multiple legal ways to do that already, we don't need more.

Legalizing it would reduce the amount of drug dealers too. A lot of people don't have access to more 'high end' drugs like cocaine, so they sell petty illegal stuff like marijuana. Legalizing it would get rid of the dealers because, really, why go buy something 'illegally' when you can get it at the gas station.

Although even though it would do that, the idea of smoking weed is terrible overall.

My opinion: heavily taxed and regulated by the government. Just not illegal so we don't have as much violent crime, jailing, and idiots like Desolation.

Except teenagers don't know more about it because they refuse to accept anything but positive views. The whole "I can't hear you! Too busy being 'cool'!" act.
Really because there are numerous credible sources that have tested it, and proven it is non addictive, its damage is Juvenal, and it causes SHORT TERM memory loss. Long term effects haven't been set in stone.

it causes SHORT TERM memory loss.
That alone can do bad things to you.

There are almost always better things to do with your time and make yourself feel better (with a lasting good feeling afterwards too mind you). And yet people feel like this being illegal is some sort of crime against freedom.

I actually understand why it would be illegal, i just see it as unnecessary. Also people always assume that it is to feel better, there could be hundreds of different reasons. Also me not remembering stuff for a few hours while i'm with my friends isn't going to do bad for me in the slightest.

guys, the main point here is that A: legalizing marijuana would only help, not hurt us. less people in jail, less dealers, more money for the government to forget with. besides, it's not that bad for you. B: if we allow bigmacs, alcohol, and cigarettes, why not legalize something MUCH less dangerous that would help our economy. C: if you drink and get into your car, you drive into a minivan and kill a 5 year old. if you smoke weed and get into your car, you eat some cheatos and take a nap, it's much less dangerous and a much better vice than smoking or alcohol.

it's much less dangerous
Okay

It's still dangerous. Just because others things are worse doesn't mean that Marijuana is better.

Just FYI, Marijuana for medical purposes is okay.

explain all the ways that marijuana is more dangerous than a freshly sharpened pencil.

Okay, since your going down that comparison road, everything can be dangerous. It's just that non-medical marijuana's primary use is harmful. A pencil's primary use is handy. It causes short-term memory loss and to the best knowledge of the scientific community, long term as well.

Yeah guys, it would help us! High people on the street 24/7, dude, that would be awesome! I mean, it's not like they do stupid stuff that will get them into jail!

I hate the smell so no

well, with your logic we should outlaw most sports, because i assure you more students ages 15 to 21 have been killed in a football tackle injury than they have being killed by smoking weed. besides, anyone who wants to smoke weed still will smoke weed, they would either be toking or getting the stuff illegally. your logic means that instead of having something that's happening anyway legal and taxed, we should put people in jail for it, and make no profit. marijuana's primary use is to get high, what's wrong with doing that, even if it does hurt short term memory. not to mention that drinking alcohol erases chunks of memory. if there was a safer vice then it would reduce drug and alcohol related deaths. would you rather be surrounded by a bunch of drunk men or a bunch of sleepy, hungry high people?

and colten, i don't like the smell of bigmacs, let's outlaw them.
