A videogame inconsistencies debate topic. Nothing too hard, just bring up noticeable or un-noticeable inconsistencies and debate over them.
Here's a few I've noticed.
#1: Why is there ammo everywhere?
Let's take Deus Ex for example. You can find ammo in the most unimaginable places. In silent hill, you can find SMG ammo in a loving CHURCH. Who the heck is placing ammo everywhere?
My take on it: I don't have any idea.
#2: You're saving the world, why do you need to buy items?
In Diablo, even though the armorer or the merchant know without you they will be buttforgeted by demons and monsters. Why the hell do you have to buy things from them?! It doesn't make sense. You're saving their ass, shouldn't they be supplying you instead of demanding profit?
My take on it: They need profit. If they get out alive, what small profit they make is still money. They're running a business, end of the world or not.
#3: Who in the right mind places weapons and items in chests around dungeons?
Dark cloud has this in it. These are dangerous, wild dungeons full of evil monsters. Who puts useful items in chests where so far only one guy's explored? And why in the first place would they dump potentially life-saving items into chests? WHY DO THEY HAVE A CHEST?!
My take on it: There were other heroes. Not as good as the player, but they were still there. Say your inventory is full of potions, and you pick up a good sword. You want to drop one of the potions and get the sword, no?
#4: Why does a civilian have better guns than the mooks hired by a multi-billion-dollar company?
In Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Adam Jenson can get good upgrades from illegal weapons dealers for his guns. With these upgraded guns, you can take down armies because they have bad, unupgraded guns. Can't the companies just buy better guns?
My take on it: The company has to mass-buy the guns. Think of all the mooks they have to supply. That's millions of dollars in guns, ammo and mooks alone.
Now let the discussing begin
