I want to have a not-for-real battle to test my fleet and stuff. And learn the game, that should be useful too.
I'd like to perticipate in that.
Uh, as indicated by our last (third ever) playthrough the combat system needs major work. Things that are going to be changed:
Weapon ranges
Missiles (the whole thing)
Ship speeds
And I'm going to try to implement a hit chance thing.
UPDATE ON NERFS:
Ships now receive another +1 range. Weapon ranges are going to become slightly more complicated. The longest range most will have is 8, and the farther away the target, the less of a chance there is to hit them, and vice versa.
I'm going to need to seriously overhaul missiles. From the feedback I got (which i suspect most was just frustration because he didn't include any dedicated point defense ships) they ought to be completely removed. While I'm not going to do that, I am still going to decrease their range and require they have line of sight with their target.
