If we went with the section idea, we could choose a style of room and use that; we do not have to use multiple rooms, although we could. We could have a lobby-like thing on one side with a stateroom on the other, with an exterior segment on one side of that. We would put the exterior side on the "entrance-to-booth" side, maybe add a gangway or a platform as the entrance. The lobby section could have a model of a revised X01 or similar added to it for decor and demo. With a 48x32 space, it would be a bit cramped, but it could be done. We might even consider stacking it, depending on the height of the convention building's roof.

Try it in the server or offline and post pictures for me to see.
A'right

Hey folks. I came to realize that we need a way to boost relevant conversation within the clan. We also have been getting a lot of requests recently for help with constructing apps. I decided to pick two flowers with one hand and create Tips on Ships, where every Wednesday I will post a new tip for ship construction as long as there are tips to post. So, without further delay,

Ship Tip #01- Cover Your Exits

No ship, no matter how large or strong, is immune to danger. It's important to keep in mind that during an emergency situation, unwelcome obstructions (fire, debris, flooding, intruders, etc.) may block your exit from a room. For this reason it's important to keep your exits in mind. Ideally, all primary rooms (living rooms, dining spaces, galleries, etc.) should have at least two access points.

There are three types of accesses to rooms. Primary accesses are usually very apparent and considered to be the main entrance. Examples could include large double doors or ornate archways. Secondary accesses are usually less obvious but still easily used. Examples could include emergency exit doors or side doors into other rooms that have alternate exits. Tertiary accesses are usually less obvious and should only be used in emergencies. Examples could include covered crawl spaces or emergency windows.

Primary rooms should have at least two exits. A simple two-exit combination would be one primary and one secondary. However, a room could also have a primary and a tertiary or two primaries. A room could also have three exits using simply a primary, secondary, and tertiary, two primaries and a secondary, a primary and two secondaries, or three primaries. Two tertiaries tend to be unnecessarily redundant. It is advised that rooms have no more than three access points, as it tends to clutter up a room and/or make security an issue as the room can't be quickly locked down.

However, it is important to remember that some areas--staterooms or restrooms, for example--should only have one entrance for security reasons. It is up to you to determine how many access points your rooms should have; hopefully this Ship Tip will help make the process a little easier! Please feel free to post your questions or comments, or suggest subjects for future tips!

Needs new tip star. Lol

Got busy yesterday. Here it is, one day late!

Ship Tip #02- Premeditation

Remember when you're designing your ship to keep in mind the types of spaces you're going to need. For a yacht you'll need to remember to have enough staterooms to accommodate all your guests, a kitchen, a dining area that seats all your guests, at least one living/entertainment space, the pilothouse, and at least one bathroom per enclosed floor. Other optional things you might consider would be game rooms, spas, gymnasiums, theater rooms, etc. If your ship is large enough to have a separate crew you'll need to make sure you have enough sleeping arrangement to accommodate them as well as a separate kitchen, dining space, living space, and bathroom.

It's always a good idea to make a list of the rooms you're going to want to include in your ship before you start building and to even make a floor plan of the ship beforehand. It doesn't have to be a complicated floor plan, as long as it generalizes what you're going to have and where it all is going to be located. A good example of a simple floor plan is shown below (though obviously you'll want yours to be of a ship, not a house).

That's all for this week. Keep on building, boat-builders!

How come no one likes my ship tips :c

Ship Tip #02- Premeditation pt. 2

While you're plotting out what rooms you're going to include, it's important to keep proper flow between the rooms in mind. Wherever you place the dining room, make sure the kitchen is close by, preferably attached. Also, you should never have to walk through a private space like a bathroom or stateroom in order to access other rooms.

Keep room flow in mind while placing furniture as well. In a living room, you ideally should be able to walk through the room without having to pass in front of a TV. You also should avoid placing furniture in ways that force people to zigzag through the space rather than walk in simple lines. Be sure to think creatively when placing furniture! A living room can be a lot more ornate than just a couch facing a TV! Look at the examples below to get an idea of efficient layout.
