Dead Island mysterious lag problem

so like
i just started up Dead Island
which i recently played today
when i started it it lagged like loving hell
even the intro scene
but the loading screen is lagfree, unlike everything else

i mean, it was perfectly fine, running smoothly with no lag at all when i played it before this time

anyone help? its also at the same settings as before

If he bought it for CD maybe he just didn't activate it for steam.

Or he pirated it.

I have the same problem - Everything lags; menus, cutscenes, gameplay, but the loading screen is smooth. I'm using the steam version, and I presume it's automatically updated to the non-dev version.

You have to activate games that work with steam with steam.

Non-dev version is 1.1+ I think.  I have 1.2 last I checked.
