Author Topic: Do I need Steam to play Left 4 Dead 2?  (Read 627 times)

I got Left 4 Dead 2 today and I don't have Steam on the computer I'm using right now. Will I have to install Steam to play Left 4 Dead 2, or can I play it without Steam since I bought it in the disc form.

I'm sure you can play it without Steam, but if you play it with steam you can bind it to an account so you can download it wherever you go as long as you remember the account details.
It's a much better investment of time than losing the disk

You need steam installed and to be logged into your account in order to play it.

He has a CD

No, Guys don't be stupid it's a steam game. You need to be logged into the account you registered it to to play it.
It doesn't matter that you have a cd, The only thing the cd does is bypass you having to download the game.

If a game uses steamworks, or anything like that you have to be on steam to use it.

Yes. On the back of the box you will see near the bottom that it says it must be played through Steam. All Valve games must be played through Steam by the way.
