The guards see what crimes you commit through walls, that's not fun.
Besides I can just wear the Grey fox cowl and my regular character is free from crimes.

You can also go to a skeleton on a stone table just south of Sightless Pit(a cave located near Winterhold) and kill the skeleton. Loot his body for an infinite supply of his copy of "Doors to Oblivion". Open his inventory, take his book, close his inventory, repeat. Note that there is a separate copy lying on the table on which you find the skeleton, do not take it or the glitch will not work.
