Dawnguard looked amazing when it was first announced. Having to wait this long has kinda killed the sparkle.

Moar screenshots now with tasty loveually injected SMAA:

SMAA is the coolest thing since sliced AA.

how do with skyrim

i tried one method and it ended up not working at all

Is dawnguard worth it?

I wanted to get it earlier but now it seems kinda meh.

Sure, installation is pretty simple and follows one of two ways that I've found. When you download the SMAA injector, you'll be given two sets of files, one for DirectX 9 games, and one for DirectX 10/11 games. Each folder has an injector.ini, be sure to open each one turn on the following variable to enable games that use the Steam overlay

weird_steam_hack = 1

Installation is fairly straightforward, and has to be done in one of two ways. Usually it will just take experimentation to see which way works. For the most part you always want to put the DirectX .dll file where the rest of the .dlls are, and the config files in the root directory. Here are some examples of my successful/unsuccessful installations:

Skyrim (DirectX 9)
Put all 4 files in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim"

An easy way to tell if it is working before actually starting up a deathmatch/round is to open the game via steam, and look at the fonts on the Steam overlay. If the fonts don't look 100% sharp and kinda distorted, then the SMAA injector is working.

As a follow up: You apparently can do this for any game that works with DX9 and DX10/11.
I warn you though because Valve has not given a straight answer if you will get VAC banned for using it on games protected by VAC so you might want to avoid using it in those games.

after watching my brother as he played skyrim on his ps3 I've been inspired to return to my roots and experience Skyrim the way I first experienced oblivion. So I'm taking it slow, examining everything about the caves I find and the mountains I climb.
This game is loving beautiful, I'm not talking about graphical quality either, I'm just talking about the feel of the game.

For instance, I wondered my way into a cave which had a large central room with a pillar of stone in the center. There was a pool of water below as I walked across the old wooden bridge, after picking off the bandits with my bow I explored the room and found a bunch of neat little things. The bandits had platforms set up all around the room and thin ledges of rock, everything was just so cool to look at and imagine how the bandits would live here before I slaughtered them. They even had a diving board set up off the central pillar so that they could dive into the salmon filled pools.

It's so nice to just look around and appreciate the world that you play in.
Considering current news, they were holding back PC version until they could get PS3 version to work right. But they realized that this was causing a LOT of trouble, and people were loosing interest, so they simple released it as they had been given the go-ahead long before and admitted they were having stuffty problems getting it to work on PS3.
do you mean before or after the 30 day xbox exclusivity? because that is the reason we had to wait a month.

I mean how everyone expected it to come out after a month, and they almost acted like they never planned it for PC. Now that we have this news, it seems apparent they were holding up the DLC because they couldn't release it for PS3 yet, but they finally gave up and just released it for PC. They probably had the rights to launch it any time they wanted for quite some time. (I'm taking about abrupt releasing probably due to already having the ability to release.)

It's too bad the PS3 release isn't coming soon, although I don't have a PS3. I've seen the slow load times on Xbox though through Robbaz - I bet it's about the same. Also, update the title? :)

Buying this the DLC today maybe.

Also, update the title? :)
forgot I was the op haha

also, I haven't actually gotten into dawnguard content yet, but I think its really cool how they raise the sense of urgency by having vampires actually attack cities after the dawnguard recruiter talks to you.

Since all of you make the DLC to be over expensive on PC due to modding ability, I can't bring myself to buy it. Anyone know of any upcoming events which might reduce the price? (Besides holidays, of course. That's too obvious.)

Unless Skyrim is in a Midweek Madness or Weekend sale, then holidays are your only hope

Im not buying it until it goes cheaper

I still get an eerie feeling when seeing screenshots of this game, how it's an adventure that came to an end and is now merely a shell of something that used to be full of fun. Makes me feel wierd.

I have this problem where my skyrim steam launch thingily keeps blinking, turning on and off. I can't find a way to solve this problem after searching trough the web i ask help from you guys.

I don't think it's that bad; it's still a great game for what it is, but it just doesn't stand up to Oblivion.

Does anyone know if Nirn's sun goes through an eclipse? Because that would be really loving awesome.
