Internet Explorer has never once given me or proved to be an issue in any way, shape, or form except maybe in something that was simply inconvenient. And having up-to-date things isn't exactly my forte.  :o

This. I have noticed no difference in speed between IE and Chrome.

At least that you haven't noticed. I am not attempting to force you to use a different browser, just attempting to convince you that IE is unsafe. It isn't all about speed, Mega-Bear! Here are a few more reasons:

• Seeing how it's a popular web browser, many hackers use exploits specifically for IE in an attempt to install malware.
• Microsoft updates bugs and exploits on IE on a fixed schedule, meaning they will only update it at a specific time. Chrome and Firefox are not on a fixed schedule, if they find a serious bug or exploit they'll pump a fix out (most of the time) right away.
• Firefox and Chrome do checking for outdated extensions and addons, while IE does not. Bad guys target outdated and buggy addons/extensions to do malicious things.
• Both Mozilla and Google pay anyone who finds a bug in their browser and brings it their attention. Microsoft does not. As a result Mozilla and Google are more likely to be aware of their bugs. You can't fix a problem you don't know about.
• An article by Larry Seltzer, New Ways to Force Browsers to be Safe discussed both the HTTPS Everywhere extension for Firefox and the new HSTS protocol supported by both Firefox and Chrome. As for IE, Seltzer says:

I use Firefox because everyone else in my family uses it and so far I've only had a problem with it today, and that's with a random security certificate error that keeps popping up. I've got no clue what it's about.

I've never had an issue with Explorer before. On 4 separate computers I managed to obtain nine or ten viruses and all of them while I was using firefox. Never once can I recall something going wrong with Internet Explorer besides maybe an issue of convenience. And something about Chrome bothers me. I don't know what it is, but it feels weird using it. Before my last computer exploded I used it, but I never really was satisfied. :c

Quite simply, what will you lose when you switch from IE?
I can certainly tell you what you will gain when you switch from it, but I can't think of anything you'll lose other than unsafe browsing and having a browser that breaks web pages.

Internet Explorer has been my long time friend, and in the glorious journeys I have endured with it, it stood valiantly and without a doubt, I have never been infected from any virus. Ever. The only viruses I have obtained were my fault, not the browsers. coughisohuntcough (bitdefender 2011 internet security suggests using IE anyways)

Safer browsing. I know you said you haven't gotten viruses from using IE but there are so many ways to exploit IE that it isn't even funny.
Nicer looking pages! Chrome and Firefox have the latest support for all the coolest features with web design.
More features. Chrome has apps and such, Firefox has all sorts of neat extensions that aren't possible with IE

I second this. People have tested the main 3 browsers, including reputable magazines here in NZ. One particular test found Chrome to be the fastest, with Firefox following very closely, and IE was over twice as slow on most tests. I won't even get started on the security flaws.
Firefox provides the best balance between compatibility, speed and mod ability for me.

I don't want to sit here and watch people use really unsafe and broken browsers, I'd much rather have them switch off then learning the hard way and getting viruses or badly formatted web pages because of IE. :(
