What is Dark Souls?

Dark Souls is a hardcore hack n slash RPG similar to Monster Hunter combat but with a difficulty similar to the old days of the NES era. Die in 2 hits from pretty much everything and even get 1 shotted by bosses, take a wrong turn and run into a monster 50 levels higher than the place you are currently in, die and go back about 30 minutes, lose all your XP, and reset all the monsters. Discover secrets items by beating bosses in unique ways or exploring the areas, level up your character and find new gear.

Dark Souls Multiplayer?

Dark Souls has a unique multiplayer system in that you can summon other players to help you at random, you can't just invite a friend to play with but you can exploit to get you and your friend together. Also People can randomly invade your game at any time and kill you or you kill them. Players can leave little hints on the ground too that other players can see while playing alone, but be warned every game has its trolls and what looks like a helpful hint could actually be a trick to get you to Self Delete.

I just bought the game last night and have been playing it ever since. I never played Demon Souls which is the games predecessor. I think I have died at least 100 times and I am only about 30 minutes in the game if I were to not have ever died, but it took me like 5 hours to get there. The game is very unforgiving, even just little zombies or skeletons that die in 2 hits can end up wrecking you if you forget to block or walk into a room and get ambushed. You can fall off edges with ease or even get knocked off. Bosses can be deceptively easy but until you figure them out you will die countless times without even landing a blow in. Over-all I love the game and wonder if anyone else has it?

tl;dr Imagine Monster Hunter with a Diablo type theme and the difficulty of old NES games with a unique multiplayer system and deep RPG system.

Not for people who get easily upset at games.
For people who calmly repeat extremely challenging steps in a form of entertainment and enjoy it.

I get easily upset but I thrive on the anger and frustration. My dog was in a corner cowering on multiple occasions as I called the game horrible names after dying while on the way to retrieve a blood stain with over 5000 souls on it.

I don't like, nay, I hate the idea of a game that you are just going to be dying the whole time.

I don't like games where you can just walk through it without any worry, but the way people talk about this it seems horrid.
I like a bit of challenge, but I don't like being ass raped by a game.

You're only gonna die when you make mistakes, which is what a challenge would be. If you make a lot of mistakes and don't die it obviously isn't a very challenging game.

edit: I'd also like to point out that I haven't felt so happy after beating a boss since this game for years.

The mistakes that cause this stuff are to easy to make.

No PC release? D:

I wish but it's on PS3 and 360 and most people have at least one of those. And I guarantee it will never be on PC.

That's odd.
Most games that don't come out for pc are exclusive to just one console.

Demon Souls the first game was a PS3 exclusive not sure why this one is on the 360 too.

I might get this on Xbox.
Are there bows/magic?

Aside from the super hard difficulty this game looks good.
Is there an easy mode that makes it still difficult but not "die 100 time in 5 hours to make only 30 minutes of ingame progress" difficult?

Both.
forget year.
I love ranged weapons.
I was disappointed by bows in Oblivion.

The classes determine the starting difficulty a lot, also you can grind areas for XP and just get way higher in level than the current area to make it easier. But that isn't as fun as just keep trying til you beat it and get to the next bonfire. Also if you think hard and play it smart it isn't so hard, if I were to start over I bet I could get to where I currently am only dying once or twice. But when it was new to me I just didn't think things over or be cautious enough and I died endlessly.
