oh so thats what RAID is? what does the 1 mean?
Each number means something different, I only remember RAID 0 and 1, and 0 is striping, adds performance of both drives together, but if one fails, you lose everything, while 1 is redundancy, meaning it has the same data on both disks. 0+1 is a mixture of both.

good god why do they cost so much

Do you mean RAID cards? You typically don't need one, most motherboards nowadays come with RAID built in. Fiddle around in your BIOS and see if you can find a RAID option.

The Windows installation will not run if the motherboard is changed.

You can reinstall it.

If you don't have an installer or key anymore, but you have a laptop or retail desktop, you can use the key from it (usually stickered on the underside) and legally download the installer DVD from the Microsoft website.
Sorry for long reply. Ok I still have the installation CD, so I would just install it as normally then enter my key in again?

If anyone would be so kind as to help me choose parts to upgrade as today is cyber monday, that would be fabulous.

What I have:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-880GM-D2H
Processor: AMD Athlon II X2 220 2.8GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6770
RAM: 4GB
OS: Windows 7
Anything else?

I'd like a new processor and possibly a new graphics card. 8GB of ram too, but I suppose I don't really need that. Either way, I use this computer to game on.

First time PC "builder" here. I was wondering what this could run and if it's worth the money

Please note, I am not using any other site other than vibox to order parts as this site builds it for me. I already have an OS separately.
quote for pageloss. I am ordering this sometime this week and I need to know if it is good enough

A few problems.
1: I'd highly recommend a higher-end motherboard than the one there. For a build like this you'd be looking at something like this or better. The last thing you want is the motherboard to die prematurely because it was stuffty.
2: Secondly, you'd want memory that operated at a higher frequency, 1600Mhz or higher.

Lastly, be sure that the PSU is 80+ certified.

For 2, does it have to be 1600Mhz+? These changes have increased the price a lot and I want to keep costs down

No, but having high memory performance will contribute to the speed of programs, which is why I recommend it.

that processor is going to bottleneck the stuff out of those four gpus
remove a gtx 690 and get a x79 + core i7 3930k

for some raisin, my local computer guy doesnt like custom builds.
