The thermal paste, I'm worried ill forget something up, I just want to stick to the ram ;_;

Like SpreadsPlague said, you have to deal with it on any processor. Any stock coolers for the processor will have it preapplied to the bottom if the cooler. Any 3rd party cooler will come with a applicant tube that you have to apply to the CPU itself, yourself. It's not that hard, it's like butter on toast.

WHQL signature on my audio drivers

seems legit

People really get stressed over building computers for no reason. It's actually a lot harder to break something than people believe

oh. Well, can anyone recommend me a good intel processor? I7 is away to much power for me.

its not that I'm worried about breaking something, it's just the first time I mess with stuff I usually get nervous and mess something up.

What socket?

It's not that hard, just calm down

What socket?
oh god what

I thought just any processor would fit fine but what

:panda:

so do you think processors are still made the same as they were back in 1980?

This is a pretty basic part of building a computer, have you looked into building one at all?

so i'm looking to update my CPU in the eventual future, and i'm not really sure what to look for.
here's my old ass mobo and old ass cpu.

is the motherboard too outdated for anything decent (i'm noticing "Socket AM3+" as i search around, are those compatable with this AM3?), and what would be a suggested upgrade for the cpu? i'm not sure about price ranges as i don't really know what the price of a decent cpu is, so as a placeholder i'm going to say $300 or less

the only thing i've looked at was this AMD FX-8150 processor

AM3+ does support am3. Also upgrading to another am3 would be a waste. You should save up a little more to get an i5 2500k or the newer one but the mobos are a little bit more for the ivybridge chipset

If you want something on a budget, this cpu is awesome. It's the one I bought.

How reasonable is this pre-built for my friend? He wants it for gaming, I'm going to give him my nVidia Geforce GTX 260 for it, would that fit?

Not very reasonable for that price.
