Just because yours is bad doesn't mean it isn't good. Acer makes cheap priced products that last pretty much the same as any other product of the same type.

If anyone is looking for a CPU fan i recommend the Arctic Coolinf Freezer 13, easiest thing to install ever. No messing around with the back plate, four push pin things and two screws.

Ugh, push mounts. They're a total bitch to get out. Good luck reapplying thermal paste, should you have to.

Acer isn't really that bad.

In my experience it is.

I don't know anyone who had an Acer that didn't end up falling apart.

I had an old Acer Travelmate and it ended up constantly on the fritz. My brother bought a newer model in 2006 and it ended up failing on him, the case itself was prone to cracking and it has GPU problems.

The batteries in those things burn out in 10 seconds.

Granted, its been a while since I've used an Acer (a good 5 to 6 years) but even now I hear bad things about them.

I would recommend Asus and Compaq. HP is okay but they tend to have hideous case decals and fruity designs.

I hate HP. Asus, in my opinion, makes the best, and acer isn't the best, but it's not at dell's level.

Mmm Dell is pretty much the worst mainstream PC brand imo. Hideous designs, awful customer service, poor quality hardware, and the ever infamous exploding laptop battery incident. What a package.
