Planned a $2.5k$1.8k build that will HOPEFULLY run Blockland at max shaders at 30+ FPS at a far render distance, and run Minecraft with GLSL mod.

I don't care about cooling noise, because I've gotten used to the loud fans of a XPS Gen 3. (I'd estimate 50-60dB when the CPU is hot. A bugged power supply will lead to it blasting the fans at ~90dB).

Tell me if the GTX690 is overkill in this case.Going with the GTX670. I don't need speakers nor a monitor, because I have the Companion 5 stereo speaker set (which costs about $300).

Yes, the hybrid drives will be mirrored so that I don't have to suffer the pain of losing lots of valuable data.

EDIT: Oh look, I got my 3k post.

do you REALLY need 2 harddrives and 2 bluray burners?

anyway here's a suggestion for a build with great performance at the same price (1.8k). maybe worth a look.

I hear if you have 6 at once your computer opens a portal to a newer, higher dimension.

2 bluray burners: Eh, unreasonable.

2 hard drives: Mirrored RAID, so that I don't have to buy an external backup drive for $300.

It opens a portal to a hellish world where nihilism is a mandatory religion by global law.

What world do you live in where an external  drive is 300 dollars? I got a rather slim 1tb or 1.5tb external drive for like $100. Unless you're doing office work or something else that is actually important its a bit of a waste.

i7 is way to much power for me

i7 is too much power unless it's for a server or a Tesla rig (a rig that is used for computing power).

I'd seriously rather have mirrored partitions than a backup drive that can get pushed off and the USB cable yanked out by the fall.

If you seriously do not like my decision, then it's my fault for being paranoid. I'm still not sure whether to take that drive out, though.

Where can I buy a new gts 250? I'm looking for one because I have a 450 watt psu and want to upgrade my gpu.

You could get way better than a 250, the 660 says it's minimum is 450 but that might be pushing it.

Note that the "minimum" is usually an overestimate.

Try out a few PSU calculators, and compare your computer specs to other people's to get an idea of what an acceptable limit is.

I use an drive enclosure to swap data between two computers, and my brother uses his external hard drive almost daily. He bought his second-hand and it did not come with a power cord. The power cord for the enclosure works perfectly for his drive, but that leaves me without one. So what I did to not have to constantly borrow the cord was perfect a make-shift SATA hotswap bay with my case's optical drive cover and some really long cords. After I installed the AHCI driver instead of the generic VIA SATA driver, it worked without a hinge, and slides into my case through the cover. forget yeah for resourcefulness :D
