I'm looking for a better video card that can run a game like Skyrim at a pretty high level. At the moment I can only run it at medium settings for it to be playable. Anyone got a good list of graphic cards or something?

So, I'll buy a couple really nice DDR3 sticks and up the ante on the 2500k. Thanks

Remember to change motherboard ;)

Where can I find one of these? Would it go well with my build?
First of all, your motherboard is AMD, the 2500k is an Intel CPU.
Second of all, it's $100 more, plus about $50 more for a compatible mobo.
Third, if you had that extra $100, it'd be well better spent on better all round parts TBH. Some of those parts aren't the best quality for a bigger price range.

As much as I hate to start a stufffest, is there really any difference in AMD versus Intel?

Look a couple pages back.
Pretty much explains the general stance between AMD and Intel.
They are just different brands with different ways to solve the same problems.
ATM Intel makes better CPUs, however AMDs can be quite cheaper, especially the Phenom II range.
The new 8 core Zambezi's are a bit better than Intel's Sandy Bridge range but are a bit more expensive though.
Your best bet to get a proper understanding would be to look at benchmarks.

The 1100T 6-core is TBH at the wrong price point. It's only $20 or so less than a 2500k, which is far superior, even though it has 2 less cores. Better architecture.

My SSD came in.

Imagine the hottest woman you know. Now imagine you are having love with her

and
you
get
to
do
brown town

That is what using an SSD is like.

New motherboard and 4GB of DDR3 memory...
Or same motherboard and 8GB of DDR2 memory?

MHz of the memories.

I have a problem with either all 3 of my earbud pairs or the jack connector itself, but it happened today. I have to push down the connector end of the earbuds lightly for sound to come out of both earbuds. If I dont push down, either sound comes from only the right side or theres not sound at all. Ive tested it with 2 other pairs, it happens with both of them and intuition is starting to tell me its the connector. How do I fix?

Since christmas is coming up, I need to put a few things on my list.

So, I'd love to do a lot of recording of games and stuff, and I'm going to hook up a second monitor, but I would need a better video card for recording all this new stuff.

Quote from: The basic specs I know
Intel i3 540 (2 Cores[4 Threads]) 3.1~ Ghz
4Gb of RAM
Radeon HD 5450
300w PSU
1 TB Hard Drive
Windows 7 64-Bit.

So yeah. I know I'd need to update my PSU if I wanted a new video card.
I'm just looking for the best thing avalible for $400~. Both the PSU and GPU.

Whether the video card is Nvidia or AMD I don't really care, as long as it's compatible with what I have.

I also have no idea what my motherboard "model" is, but if needed, I could find it.

For that price I would want at least an unlocked CPU, an SSD, and a Z68 board. You could do better.

I noticed you put "2x" beside your RAM - why do you need 16GB? If you're only using it for gaming then you need 8GB at most, but if you're doing rendering or other intensive tasks then I see why you might need 16GB.
