Yeah, it seems that explorer.exe just freezes a few seconds after startup. What do? I was going to restore to factory settings but I want to ask for help again beforehand
Fixed it. Hopefully it sticks this time

Now I haven't played sims 3 in ages this is because one of my AMD XFX 6870s died on me while playing the game. What is the chance that it was actually the game or a fault that was developed in the manufacturing process?

The problem was graphical artifacts such as complete colour and screen distortion and pixelation.

Could it have overheated to damage some of the circuitry or is there built-in mechanism that turns the computer off?

I have two XFX 6870s still since I replaced the broken one because it was recently purchased. I'm not running them on crossfireX instead I have two 24" 1080p resolution monitors.

Thanks for your help.
I can't see it.
Artifacts are usually a sign of a dying GPU, or you've overclocked it a bit too far. Did you overclock it at all?
And it wouldn't be a fault in the game. If your GPU can't handle maximum load without being in the green zone for temperatures and all that jazz, then it's either a fault of the user (if overclocked) or the hardware.

You'll need to go in to the BIOS and enable it somehow, depens on your board.
IDK. It varies.

I bought a Corsair 650d and a Corsair H-100 and decided shortly after I didn't want those. Now I have to wait for them to get here and then about 5 days for the refund. Feels bad man
I can't see why you wouldn't want them. They are great.

can someone recommend me some parts for a medium-gaming computer? I want to be able to play SC2 or host and play Minecraft on medium settings/high settings. I need it to be less than $500.
Yes, I will soon.

I'm gonna get the thermalright silver arrow, and a haf x.

So I got this starfish computer that wont boot off the loving disk even after I unplug the hard drives. The .Iso is bootable,  but it wont recognize it. Its a frankenstein computer, but the drive still works when the OS is up and junk. I used Daemon tools to burn the .iso image at 8x write speed (slowest)

Advice?

Get the Noctua NH-D14. Way better.

Have you gone in to the BIOS and changed the boot sequence?

what? all the benchmarks i've seen have had the silver arrow slightly ahead of the nh-d14, and its not ugly

Yeah, I even put harddrive at the bottom.

Edit: Do you want me to record the boot sequence?
It does some fast lines of stuff, then tells me to push Ctrl alt A to configure, press a key to continue, bleep bloop windows is loading wait what...

I apologize, I overlooked it. You're right.

Need a few last things for Christmas, and I was thinking about maybe getting a new mouse/keyboard/headset. Any suggestions? Combined, they need to be less than $85.00.

Are you kidding me? The CPU I wanted to get is out of stock now. I could buy it off of Tigerdirect. Any good AMD
CPUs under $100?

What socket do you have? AM3?

Yeah, the one I wanted is a AMD Phenom II X2 555, anything around that like that?
