im looking for a video card that is about as powerful as a nvidia 8800 gt, how much should i be expecting to pay for one?

for $130 or so you can get a radeon 7750. More powerful than an 8800, but you're gonna want it.

I'm buying a mobo off of newegg, how do I know what ram cards I would need? What do I search for?

under the memory section on the details tab, it says:

any kind. faster is better, but if your on a budget you should be trying to have MORE ram, and not care about speed

- Standard motherboard socket for RAM sticks. There are none that don't have this already.
- DDR3 is the highest level of RAM available currently. The 1066/1333/1600 etc. is the clock speed. The higher it is, the faster.
- Quad Channel indicates that it runs best when placed in four RAM slots on the motherboard. However this doesn't mean that you can't run it in any of the slots available. It really will not make a difference.

Just simply buy RAM that is desktop RAM and has a clock speed that is at least 1333 and you will be fine. That's what I would do. However I would prefer 1600 clock.

I seem to be having issues with Battlefield 3. I used to be able to run BF3 on 5760x1200 resolution with 60+ fps. Now I lag like balls and I have to go back to standard 1920x1200.

Any other game seems to run fine and I've gone through the trouble of setting BF3 to lowest settings and even exploiting the console to get the graphics down even lower. Anything that could be causing it? I recently installed new Nvidia drivers so I think that could be causing it.

P.S. I'm running Nvidia surround, hence the 48x10 aspect ratio. Three monitors ftw!

P.S.S. I'm running two 460GTXs that were manufactured by EVGA with their special airflow cases. (They're overclocked as well.)

Two GTX 460s will never get you even decent FPS at 5760x1200
