id say thats why amds 8 core processor costs like 80 bucks when the 8 core xeons cost like 500 bucks

Xeons are workstation class CPU's though.

i7 ivy bridge is better I think

the best core i7 you can get has 4 cores, 8 threads, and they clock at 2.9 ghz

the best xeon you can get has 8 cores, 16 threads, and they clock at 2.13 ghz

im not sure what one could be described as better

Let me rephrase that, i7 ivy bridge will be better for YOUR uses.

i wish laptops could be upgraded, i don't wanna be stuck with a 6750 and 1.8 ghz A8 forever.

what's a good hard drive to get? i don't really have a budget i'm just being realistic on what i can earn and how long it will take me

You don't necessarily need a 1tb hard drive, a 750 gb one is ample and about $15 bucks less
