Is 3GB of ram enough to run most of today's games?

Is 3GB of ram enough to run most of today's games?

decently, but 8GB seems to be the "norm"

unless you meant vram (since 3GB ram seems an odd amount to me) in which case yes

Well I can't comment on how fiddly it'll be. Some non stock fans are just click and go with a thermal paste already applied. Some heatsink towers can be fiddly to install and take several minutes to assemble. Still, only 20 minutes probably. Get to it! :3
Didn't you say you've never even assembled a computer? Or am I thinking of someone else?
Just my recent video card upgrade took longer than that. I had to move the hard drives to make room for it (dusted out the space between them too) and then mess around trying to get it into a rather cramped place
Unless you have a ton of experience I don't see how you can assemble an entire computer in 20 minutes

Its good to hear you are being careful. Envy the fact you are building yours now, I still need to order two things. RAWR.

Turning it on will be a nervous moment. Be sure to post photos when it is done. c:
I'm still waiting for my CPU cooler and a couple (5) extra fans, then I have all parts together :D
I got the 212 Evo Pro CPU cooler, which is one of their bestsellers. It's also got very good reviews. The funny thing is that they said it was out of stock, and that it would take 9 days to get it in. And another 4-5 days for the shipping. How come the bestseller isn't in stock and has to be ordered from the manufacturer?

I'm a bit nervous about the assembly, as I've never done this before. The thing that concerns me the most is attaching the CPU to the motherboard, as things can easily be forgeted up when one of those tiny pins is bent, from what I've understood. Also, how long does it take for a computer-virgin to figure out where all the cables go?

Probably has a triple-channel Mobo

is there ever christmas sales or boxing day sales on newegg or whatever? If there is is it worth me waiting to buy my parts until then?

Newegg usually puts cases, and less important things on low sales.
When it comes to higher pricing components, they usually put the older generations on sale

If you need that extra $50 on a new computer, then go ahead and wait until Christmas or after

so
im getting all of these UPS packages that I didnt order
one says assassin creed 3 on it so...

my dad doesn't browse these forums  :cookieMonster:
Honestly, the 7870 would be a better option at this point. It has 2 GB of vram, and PCI 3.1 (if I recall correctly). The 7850 is still a solid choice, it's in my rig, but better is better

I looked at the 7870, was more expensive even though it was better. I can't find any jobs and it's winter here so I can't cut grass
