I am confus.

My motherboard manual lists the different front panel USB 2.0 connectors as being inherently different in some way.
But my case guide doesn't specify on which connector to use.

Case: HAF 912
Mobo: ASUS P8Z77-V LE

USB 2.0 Connectors L to R:
USB 910
Pins, in order:
USB+5V
USB+5V
USB_P10-
USB_P9-
USB_P10+
USB_P9+

USB78
Pins, in order:

USB_P8-

USB56
Pins, in order:

USB34

What my case guide says:

The case guide warns of damage/loss of function if the connectors don't match up. :I
pageloss :(
still havent figured it out

You should probably go full-blown Linux, but if you actually know how to use Linux, I wouldn't go with Ubuntu more-so as I would with Arch or CentOS.
i only know a bit more then the basics, mainly because i never had a need to get more researchy with it apart from some console commands.

and since ubuntu does what i need it to do and does it well, why not?

brb backing up any other data that i forgot to put on my new laptop then doing the something else installation (deleting every partition except for the recovery)

It occurs to me that I could get a retail copy of WinXP and a retail upgrade copy of Win8 for about £80, Even less if I buy Win8 online instead of getting a physical upgrade copy.
Would such a plan be worth considering? Installing SP1-3 so I can run the upgrade wouldn't take very long, a negligible amount of time to have to spend if it means I can save in excess of £40

pageloss :(

what are you confused about exactly?  just use your USB ports as usual.

I figured it out.

I have my HDD cabled up to the motherboard but it's not appearing. When I go into my BIOS it recognizes it's existance. helpplz.

Is there any way I can allocate more bandwidth to steam? GTA4 is downloading very slowly. :(

What speed?

make sure no one else on your network isn't downloading anything or streaming.

I'm the only one at home on the internet right now. I think the speed might be because of this wireless dongle.

yeah, direct connection (ethernet) is the best way to go if you want better speed.

I just did a non-scientific test of my download speeds:
USB dongle: 2.71
Ethernet Cable: 1.97

So I guess I just have a stuffty ISP. :I

most wireless dongles i've seen top out at something like 300 megabits/second, or about 38 megabytes/second. i doubt that's the problem.

edit: lol i got ninja'd by ultima.
also, steam servers are often somewhat overloaded during sales, so that might be part of the problem.
