7 years ago, my step dad introduced me to a little game called Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. This was the nicest thing he ever did for me seeing as though all he used to do was make me miserable. We all know what roller coaster tycoon 3 is. It's that little Theme Park Simulator everybody loved to play for it's sandbox and hilarious cheat codes (remember James Hunt; The one that let you drive around and ram people with a buggy?). Anyways, it was an awesome game, and I would play it, build theme parks, finish the missions, etc. I would look up videos and stuff, I was instantly in love. I loved all the coaster building mechanics, and it's rides, and the ability to customize your own people. It was great. But then, unfortunately, I lost it during my move to my Grandma's house. I was traumatized. The game I grew up with, lost forever. Skip to December, 2007 (when I still had my desktop that could at least run source) and one of my gifts, is Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Platinum, with all the expansions! I was filled with joy! i quickly leaped to my disk drive and put RCT3 in. After Installing it, I instantly started it up, and I was once more, A happy soul. Then again, my sister lost it after replacing it with some stupid girl game. She must've thrown it into some obscure place, because I didn't find it for a long time. I didn't know NoDisk patches existed, so I just left the Icon on my desktop. Skip to today , where my now dead desktop, is replaced with a cheap, Low-end Sony Vaio (can't run source anymore), and I suddenly see a disc after cleaning up the back room (which is where we had our old desktop. we didn't clean it regularly). slightly scratched up, flipped on it's side, and I turn it over to see my old RCT3 platinum disk! I was excited! I Installed it once again onto my laptop, and after it was done, I downloaded a NoDisk, and promptly double clicked on the Recognizable Panda Icon. To my dismay, instead of a game, I got a notepad file called GraphFix, and it said this:
Driver : igdumd32.dll
Description : Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
DeviceName : \\.\DISPLAY1
VendorID (*): 32902
DeviceID (*): 10754
SubSysID : -1876094899
Revision : 12
WHQLLevel : 0
DriverVersion(*): 0x0007000E000A050F
I didn't understand what this meant, so I looked it up on Google, and oddly enough, found a help topic on a BitTorrent forum.
One of the posters also had a problem, and another user told him it was because his graphics card is outdated.
I go to "CanYouRunThis?" and click on Roller coaster Tycoon 3: Wild, and surely enough, it says I meet all the requirements, except for a good video card. The video card has everything required, except hardware, and that's the main factor, because it's enough to not let me run RCT3. I then immediately bursted into tears, as i realized i would never be able to play it unless my mom decided to spend $600+ on a new laptop.
R.I.P: RCT3:Platinum. You will always be the best game in my heart. ;_;
I thought this would go better in games, because it has to do with a game.
