Author Topic: My dad is a huge jerk.  (Read 5721 times)

Give him the silent treatment for a long loving time. NEVER GIVE UP. Then when after he asks a few times, say "Listen, dad. I spent a few months saving some cash that I could spend on some stupid stuff, but I didn't, on that iPhone. I learned more about money. But when I was expecting a big reward for myself, you just took it away. It's not even about the iPhone. The fact that you would steal something that I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR SUCH A LONG TIME FOR BECAUSE YOU DONT THINK I DESERVE MY MONEY, YOU'VE GOT ANOTHER THING COMING. THAT'S WHY."
something along those lines. but before the silent treatment, i'd suggest arguing a bunch about it until you get it back for a few days. the silent treatment is a last resort.

i just did. half the constitution and standard state laws on citizens. perfect examples.
these are our "basic" rights/freedoms.
but as a kid you cant vote or own a gun. (no that hunting rifle your dad got you for Christmas is legally his)
this was a debate that some spoiled ignorant kids here think they are/should be equal to any adult.

while the constitution says we can vote. we still dont let kids do it, as they are not citizens.
Constitution makes no note of these details, we just said forget it, kids arent allowed.

ive given the best examples. you are just a butthurt kid
Do you not know the definition of the word "cite"? And are you really going to resort to ad hominem over something so trivial as the basic backing up the information you've been posting all throughout this thread with a single location in the legal system? I shouldn't think this so hard if the examples are as abundant as you claim.

well if you need a link to the constitution wiki, or your state's laws that obviously dont allow you the freedoms as an adult, you are the stupid one. you know exactly what they are.

you have been proven wrong. i dont need to sink for you

I don't know why you're still fighting Bisjac, guys.
It's true, everything is owned by your parents, but the cool ones entitle you to it. The only way to get it back is with the way you act. You could steal it. You could yell at him every day. You could destroy it. You could steal $200 of his and buy you one. Or you could just deal with it.

I'll say this again because I feel you're not understanding it: I ask you this not out of my own interests but out of those of dorkdotdan. He asked for a single citation and you failed to provide it, going off on one of your trademark "I'm wrong, you're right" dismissals. Your argument carries no weight without proof. I'm asking you to make yourself look like a person capable of civilized discussion, not to "sink for [me]," or anyone else for that matter. The citation of evidence is an absolutely crucial part of argumentation, for without it you could very easily be making every word you say up.

I don't know why you're still fighting Bisjac, guys.
Who's fighting Bisjac?

It's true, everything is owned by your parents, but the cool ones entitle you to it.
Exactly. Some parents have the decency to pretend we have ownership over our possessions for the sake of not being a richard. If my mom just took my hundreds of dollars I have saved up it would be legal, but wrong.

Yo, What's been going on since I left?

I ask you this not out of my own interests but out of those of dorkdotdan

he richarded out long ago in admittance to his own ignorance on the topic.

you are the only one in debate over it. mr nice guy protecting others? no.
i see you fighting for yourself and trying to hide behind another.

Ok, I think It's time to pull out of this trainwreck.

And yet you're still too lazy to provide a citation.

thats what ur mom sed last night
Keep us updated, OP.

yes but the house and it's contents arent suddenly yours.
plus even in a household, as someone's private property (not yours), you dont YET have all the rights of a public citizen.

kids just love the fantasy of turning 18 and doing as they please lol. it dont work that way.

meaning, you are 18 and stilll living with your parents. you dont have all the rights you just think you earned yet.

he is asking me to prove that children do not have the rights of adults.

do you want me to cite the proof that the world is round as well? no one is of debate that kids dont have the same rights, the discussion was about WHY and how fair it is. amade has missed that point completely.

and i did cite plenty anyways. it was pretty off topic as everyone already knew the facts, what i was trying to avoid.
