Author Topic: Steam, this is the last loving straw; it's personal now.  (Read 7101 times)

105 days.

105 loving days since I've had access to my Steam account barred. And guess what? No results.

For those of you who haven't heard the story, allow me to repeat it:

Quote from: long ago, in a thread far, far away
I got on today after getting back from a 3 day vacation to find a message waiting for me that my account had been suspended due to payment dispute. I have over $345.77 worth of games on there, and I have no idea what happened. I'm in the process of contacting Steam support, and hoping that I can get my account back.

That was back in August. It is now November. Steam Support has done jack stuff, and I'm bored and left out of mostly every activity that is conducted over Steam. I've had my mom contact the credit card company, and they have charged the funds once more. Yet, I am still sitting here with nary a game to play.

Yes, I've submitted a ticket. And yes, I've received the same response time after time.

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

The purchase of a wallet credit with <omitted> has been disputed. Your account has been locked due to the payment dispute.

To unlock your account, you will need to contact your bank and have the bank withdraw the chargeback, cancel the dispute and return the funds to Steam for this purchase. As soon as the chargeback dispute is settled your account, and the disputed game, will automatically be reactivated.

If your bank is unable to withdraw the chargeback, we will need them to fax an affidavit that clearly states that they are unable to withdraw the chargeback and more importantly that the chargeback was not due to the credit card being used fraudulently. Please have them fax it to 425-952-2788 Attn: Fraud Department. Make sure that your bank has included the phone number for their dispute department so that we can verify the statement with them. Please reference this ticket number, 6341-ZXBN-0537 , on your cover letter. As soon as we can confirm this information with your bank, we will review the situation so we can make an exception and reactivate the account even though the chargeback is still pending.

Hmm, I wonder if those look similar! Yeah, they're handing me the same loving recycled excuse, but except reworded. I've tried to get answers, and instead get the same stuff that they've given me.

That's where you come in forums. I'm asking that you provide me with assistance. I'd like to have my account back dearly, and if there's anything any of you individuals can do, I'd be incredibly grateful.

Thanks.

Oh, and PS? If you ask for a tl;dr, you will be reported. No excuses. You should know better.

Call them.

I did. And Doc Kleiner directed me to my only source!

Steam Support.

Now watch as someone says tl;dr just for kicks.

Ontopic: yeah steam support is handicapped. not big surprise.
submit a ticket that is CAPS LOCK INDICATING YOU'RE GENUINELY PISSED

Do it again, tell them you had no luck.

Tell the credit card company to fax the aforementioned affidavit.

It's funny, I actually did start becoming agitated in one of the messages, and got no reply afterwards.

Guess I have to be nice to receive service.

Kleiner will just tell me to email support, as always.

Tell the credit card company to fax the aforementioned affidavit.

I've mentioned it to my mom, she says that she won't call the credit card company to fax the affidavit. She didn't state why.

They don't have a proper support hotline. All it is is an automated machine telling you to contact Steam Support by email.

You also don't get the money you've spent on those games back. You pay the price of buying downloadable games.

In Steam you aren't buying these games, you are renting them.

Thanks for stating the obvious.

I've mentioned it to my mom, she says that she won't call the credit card company to fax the affidavit. She didn't state why.

So this is your mom's fault, not Steam Support's.

This is why I try to limit my purchase of downloadable games.

so it was the MOTHER all along
