Fighting, shounen, plots are always fun and I cant really enjoy mechas.
Since posting that I've watched the first episode of Phantom: requiem for the phantom, see how it turns out.

You could try Armored Trooper Votoms where mechas are more like walking tanks or Armored Hunter Mellowlink which talks place in the Votoms lore where the main character is a soldier with an anti material rifle who hunts down the corrupt officers that got his platoon wiped out. But if truly cant get into mechs maybe Cyborg 009.
